Donald Sterling is facing a lot of pressure, after a leaked conversation between him and his girlfriend exposed his racist sentiments toward Black people. Celebrities, activists and politicians have been speaking out and are taking action, refusing to put any of their money into the Clippers organization as long as he remains the owner of the Los Angeles team.
Sterling has owned the Clippers since 1981, and despite Court records filled with stories of his vile remarks on race, he has never been disciplined by the NBA.
The new commissioner for the NBA, Adam Silver, pledged a full and swift investigation of the tape, which includes a voice, alleged to be Sterling’s, angrily chastising his girlfriend for “associating with black people” and for “taking pictures with minorities,” including Magic Johnson, and posting them to her Instagram account.
“The audio recording posted by TMZ is truly offensive and disturbing,” Silver said at a press conference in Memphis, “and we intend to get to get to the bottom of it as quickly as possible.”
What do you think the NBA’s response should be to Sterling’s alleged racist rant?
